Preserve Our Mountain Character

Quick Overview:

Big Canoe is a residential mountain community—not a resort. I’ll work to protect that identity by supporting responsible development, preserving our scenic beauty, and ensuring that future planning reflects the voice of today’s property owners.

Preserve What Makes Big Canoe Special

Big Canoe’s peaceful setting, natural beauty, and strong sense of community are what brought many of us here. Whether you’re hiking the Jeep Trail at sunrise, enjoying the quiet of Lake Petit, or waving to neighbors at the North Gate, there’s a rhythm to life here that’s different—and worth protecting.

We’re not a resort. We’re a mountain residential community. That’s more than a slogan—it’s a set of values that affect how we govern, how we grow, and how we treat our environment and each other.

As a member of the POA Board, I will:

  • Support responsible, character-aligned development
Any new development should reflect the scale, style, and expectations of our community. That means upholding Big Canoe’s original vision, ensuring that infrastructure keeps pace with growth, and resisting pressure to overbuild or commercialize. The Big Canoe Company, as the developer, retains certain rights and I believe we should work constructively with them. Through clear communication and collaboration, we can pursue outcomes that protect the community’s long-term interests while respecting the developer’s role. Our goals don’t have to be in conflict—but we do need strong, principled representation at the table.
  • Protect scenic views and greenspaces
Our views, forests, and trails are part of what makes Big Canoe feel like home. Through enforcement of AECC guidelines and careful community input, I’ll work to protect the visual and environmental character of our mountains. We need to be stewards of this place—not just consumers of it.
  • Push for a new Property Owner Survey in 2026
The last comprehensive survey is now outdated. With significant turnover in property ownership, it’s time to re-engage the community and listen again. I’ll support launching a full, unbiased survey in early 2026 to guide capital planning, amenities investment, and future development priorities.

Preserving our mountain character means more than resisting change—it means guiding it carefully. With the right leadership, we can honor the Big Canoe we love while still planning for its future. That’s what I’ll work to do every day.
